FFPL 2021 Winter: Match Day 6 Breakdown

The league stage of the FFPL 2021 Winter has concluded! We finally have the twelve finalists that we will be seeing on 30th January 2022. The last two days of the league stage were super intense. We had some insane comebacks, some sad stories, and a lot of jaw-dropping moments. For those of you who missed the action, this recap is for you!

Revenant Esports overtake Chemin Esports to plant their flag at the top of the summit

Right from the start of the tournament, Chemin Esports had been on the top of the score table for the most part. They were temporarily dislodged by TSM for a day, but they retook their lead right after that. Revenant Esports on the other hand, being in the group they were in, had played their games much after Chemin Esports completed their league stage run. At the end of Day 5, Revenant Esports had only played 18 matches, yet they had 215 points, meanwhile Chemin Esports were already done with their 24 games and had only scored 251 points, an easy-to-overcome target for Revenant Esports. They extracted more points out of kill points. They had the highest number of kills in the tournament - 117!

Resurgence of Total Gaming Esports

Total Gaming Esports had a rather slow start to the tournament this season. In the first four days of the tournament, Total Gaming Esports were not even in the top twelve. Their chances of qualifying for the finals seemed slim. However in the last week, they recovered quite well. They ended Day 5 in 10th position, and on the final day, they climbed all the way into the top 5 teams on the scoreboard. On the final day, Total Gaming Esports won the first game of the day in Bermuda and the fifth game in Kalahari. With two booyahs in a single day, Total Gaming Esports overtook half the lobby yesterday!

KM Brotherhood’s rise to glory

KM Brotherhood has had their short stints of glory in the top 3 of the tournament on several occasions. Their star player KMBH-Dipu was the best performer of Week 1, while KMBH-Aiz3n was the best in Week 2. However, while they might be on the top statistically, that’s not even the best part about them. KMBH-Dipu in his very first premier tournament has already gotten himself a highlight reel that might easily be one of the best clutches of the year. KMBH-Dipu pulled off a 1 vs 3 clutch against Desi Gamers, in Match 5 of Day 5. He made them run circles around and under the bridge that connects the mainland to the southern island in Purgatory. He swung wide in the open while going under the bridge, forcing his opponents to follow him from above and lose HP to the zone, while nading his path under the bridge to cover his retreat. This maneuver chewed through half of all his opponent’s HP, making it easy for him to one-clip them.

Aura Gaming Esports became the kings of Kalahari

There are several teams who get associated with a map due to their high level of success on it. Up until now, we used to consider Chemin Esports the kings of Kalahari, because they were the only team brave enough to land in Refinery every time and successfully win all the early game battles over there without difficulty. However, Aura Gaming Esports set new records. They won four booyahs in the league stage, which makes them the team with the most wins. Out of those four booyahs, three were on Kalahari. This gives them the bragging rights over the dunes.

Disappointment from Orangutan Elite and Desi Gamers Esports

Orangutan Elite and Desi Gamers Esports are some of the best teams in the country. In fact, they even represented India internationally during the Free Fire Asia Championship. But unfortunately, these teams have failed to even qualify for the grand finals of Free Fire Pro League 2021 Winter. Orangutan Elite had some bad games and bad luck during the second and third weeks of the championship. They found themselves getting eliminated pretty early in several games. Even though they started to mount a tiny comeback on Day 5, their momentum was stolen away from them.

Desi Gamers Esports were probably the biggest disappointment of them all. Bad rotations, dumb fight decisions, poor positioning and an overall lack of game sense indicated that this team was out of their depth during the league stage. With these two superstar teams out of the competition, a lot of other teams will be happy to not have them in the grand finals, but we all know that these two teams will be missed!

To conclude, the teams that have qualified for the grand finals of the Free Fire Pro League 2021 Winter are:

1. Revenant Esports
2. Chemin Esports
3. Nigma Galaxy
4. Team Insane Esports
5. Total Gaming Esports
