Chemin Esports started the FFPL 2021 Winter League stage with a bang!

The Free Fire Pro League 2021 Winter kicked off with style. The first tournament of 2022 is living up to its hype. Some of the top teams are dominating as expected, however, some are struggling to stay alive. A few underdogs have caught our attention. If you missed the action across the first two days of this championship, then this recap is for you.

Chemin Esport off to a flying start, but can they maintain themselves there?

We expected mixed results from the ex-4Unknown squad because they recently changed their IGL. However, they are doing a damn good job already. We saw similar levels of domination from them during the last FFIC 2021 Fall as well, but they were unable to hold on to their lead. Will they be successful this time?

While they only have one booyah to their name, their points come from the massive number of kills they have (67), and their regular top 3 finishes. This score could have been higher if the odds weren’t stacked against them. They always seem to have the worst luck when it comes to zone prediction, but they still power through the difficulties regardless. Imagine what would happen if they improve their prediction game. They’d be unstoppable!

Godlike living up to their name

GodLike is an absolute beast to go up against in early game battles. They have an impressive war record while fighting in the first and second zones. They are currently standing at second place with only one booyah and 45 kills. Ginotra and Nivesh are tearing the server apart. The only reason why there’s a significant gap between them and Chemin Esports is that GodLike tends to choke in the final moments of the game. Their inability to convert top 3 finishes into a booyah is probably what’s getting in their way. We might see them go for a more aggressive approach next week to capture more ground for themselves and thus have better odds of closing the games.

Revenant Esports are legitimately a scary opponent

PVS Gaming Esports has 78 points, and is currently in sixth place after playing on both days (12 matches). Revenant Esports on the other hand, only played on day 2 (6 matches) and have 72 points. Even after playing lesser games than anybody else, they have quite a lot of points. Their zone prediction seems to be amazing as they always find themselves in either high ground areas or have the circle directly upon them. They were even able to win a booyah on Day 2, and there could have been a double booyah if things were slightly different in Kalahari. The only problem they are facing right now is that they lose their player early on during their games, which means there is less firepower available towards the end circles.

Underdogs rising

KM Brotherhood and Surya Bhai Gaming are at third and fourth positions respectively. Surya Bhai gaming did it with consistent top 6 finishes and at least a handful of kills every game. They were even able to win a booyah, albeit cheesily. Kalahari seems to be their strong suit.

On the other hand, KM Brotherhood has not won a single game yet, however they are winning several fights against powerful teams. They are able to squad-wipe teams that have more men and better positions than them. If they keep this up, they could very well be the next Free Fire sensation.

Aura Gaming Esports and Zero Degrees win two booyahs, yet don’t get a significant enough lead.

This proves how hard it is to be consistent. Zero Degrees won two booyahs on the first day, but it was by playing very passively. An amazing clutch by ZD - Kirito got them their first win, which seemed impossible as he was stuck in a 1 vs 2 situation.

Aura Gaming Esports on the other hand, did not shy away from fights, but every booyah that they were able to get was close, and it boiled down to 1v1s or 2v2s. Even after winning two booyahs each, Aura Gaming Esports is at the fifth place with 84 points, while Zero Degrees is at ninth place with 66 points.

Popular contenders struggling

Orangutan Elite, Desi Gamers, Team Chaos are all big names who have a lot of fan following as well as high profile achievements. All of them have been to the FFIC Finals in the past, and two of them have even represented their country internationally. Despite having so much experience, all three of these teams are at the bottom of the scoreboard. This goes to show how the younger generation is hungry for blood and ready to replace these aging teams.

In just two days, we have already seen such amazing action unfold. This tournament will continue next weekend! Make sure to tune in to the stream on 15th January & 16th January 2022 at 6 PM IST on our Free Fire Esports India YouTube channel.
