Top 5 teams to watch out at the Free Fire Asia Championship Grand Finals

The moment of truth is upon us. Eternal glory and unlimited rewards await the winner of the Free Fire Asia Championship 2021. We will be crowning a new king this weekend. Here are some of the teams that have a great shot at capturing the throne.

  1. 1. eArena

An unlikely contender is the torchbearer of Thailand this time. EArena are an underdog team by Thai standards. They upset the hierarchy and won the Free Fire Pro League Thailand Season 5, which granted them a direct passage into the finals. While their squad is full of crazily talented young players, they lacked international experience. To patch this deficit, they got Hoysang into their team on loan from Attack All Around. Keep in mind that Attack All Around is the team that won the Free Fire Continental Championship 2020 (they were called EXP Esports back then). This is the legendary team that had the deadly duo of Poongod and Pookgod. The person leading this duo was Hoysang. As an experienced IGL, Hoysang can channel the firepower of these rookies in the right direction. Will bringing in just one experienced player who has conquered the world previously be enough to buff the remaining members of eArena?

2. Burst the Sky

Hailing from Vietnam, Burst the Sky brings with them a plethora of experience. We first saw what they are capable of during the Free Fire Continental Series 2020. Burst the Sky stunned us all with their incredible fighting power. Alas, they couldn’t back that up with placements and finished 9th in the tournament. They continued improving and sharpening their aim. Half a year later, we saw them yet again going toe to toe with the world’s finest. They finished sixth in the Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore - a significant improvement from the last time they were on an international stage. If this trend continues, we might just see Burst The Sky get into the top 3 this year.

3. EVOS Divine

The Free Fire Indonesia Masters is one of the sweatiest tournaments in the circuit. This country produces so many amazing teams, it’s ridiculous how good they are. The winner of this national championship was EVOS Divine. Yet another experienced team in the mix, EVOS Divine finished fourth in the FFCS 2020 Asia and eighth in FFWS 2021 Singapore. However, they have been the most dominant teams of the region. They will have some local competition in the finals too, as one of their arch-nemesis GPX Esports have also qualified. Let’s see how they fare up against the other older teams in the mix while the younglings wreak havoc.

4. CGGG

CGGG was racking up more kills than anybody else in the Play-Ins. This team was the last seed of Thailand, but they played like champions. This just goes to show that Thai Free Fire is on a whole new level. The country that has produced several great names and teams has once again blessed with a team that was considered an underdog in their region, but had a lot more impact than what one would expect. One booyah was enough to get CGGG to the top, as compared to the two that teams like GPX Esports and Heavy had in the Play-ins. Their superior consistency gives them a great chance of winning it all.

5. HQ Esports

This Vietnamese juggernaut decimated everybody that got in its way. Scoring more than hundred points in a premier tournament is unheard of, yet HQ Esports pulled off the impossible on the Day 1 of the FFAC Play-ins. FunkyM was the backbone of the team, while ThaiSon was leading the offensive front and fighting like a demon. They got into the top 5 of the Free Fire World Series Singapore, which tells us that they already knew they were worthy of being the contender. Them topping their Play-ins will give them additional confidence which might just boost them higher.

And ofcourse, Team Elite

Team Elite is the sole representative of India in the Grand finals. While they have their fair share of international experience, will they be able to perform well this time around? The other Indian teams like Desi Gamers, Total Gaming Esports and PVS Gaming Esports were unable to make it, but Team Elite can make amends if they learn from the mistakes of their fellow countrymen. If you’re curious and want to know in detail how they could do that, consider reading this analysis article.
