All stakes at Team Elite now!

The three Indian teams in the Free Fire Asia Championship Play-Ins couldn’t make it through to the Grand Finals. As of this moment, Team Elite is the only Indian representative in the finals. While it is disheartening to not see any more players donning the Indian tricolour, we have all discovered something or the other from them. If Team Elite does their homework and learns from their mistakes, they have a chance at doing well this weekend. Here’s a quick analysis of how Team Elite matches up against the heavyweights from South East Asia.

Desi Gamers Esports: taught us to hit back

Desi Gamers Esports unfortunately ended up being the laughing stock of Play-Ins Day 1. They finished last and had less than half the points of the team that finished 11th. Our analyst’s opinion is that they were too afraid to fight. While surviving and playing for placement points is not a bad strategy, the hope that they would go completely undetected throughout the game was delusional. Desi Gamers tried to run away and reposition even when the enemy had pin-pointed their locations. Desi Gamers Esports was so bent on retreating out of fights that they did not even fire back at their opponents. We learnt from them that respecting our opponents too much and letting fear set in would only lead to our demise.

Total Gaming Esports: taught us how to properly play for placement points

In an instant, Total Gaming Esports learnt from Desi Gamers is that not pulling the trigger does not guarantee you stealth. Total Gaming Esports tried to fight back against their opponents and even got quite a few kills. The thing that bugged them the most was third-parties. Total Gaming Esports could not finish off the fights that they started on time. When the fights dragged on for too long, third party teams became interested in the fight and started to apply pressure, which Total Gaming Esports cracked under. Even then, their survival game was on point. Total Gaming Esports often found themselves surviving with only one player, which led to them ratting their way up the scoreboard. FozyAjay had a hilarious sneaky moment when he slipped past his enemies and got his team some crucial points. It’s like he borrowed Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak.

PVS Gaming Esports: taught us how to fight

PVS Gaming Esports did not falter against hot drop battles. They often went to highly contested locations like Peak on Bermuda. Even though they got into early game fights and lost a couple of players, their fighting was lethal. They wiped quite a lot of squads and had a healthy chunk of kills. The place where PVS Gaming struggled was in their rotations. Often while leaving cover and moving to the next zone, their players were caught out in the open. If they lost members there, it was difficult for them to tug on with less numbers.

Team Elite: What’s their win condition

Team Elite’s drop locations aren’t as hot as PVS Gaming, but still they must be able to defend themselves if they get contested. They cannot leave it up to chance. Assuming Team Elite survives the early skirmishes (which they can, since they have a decent bit of firepower), they must ensure that they do not lose players in rotation like any other Indian teams did.

Last year when Team Elite participated in the Free Fire Continental Series, they faced the same problem. While their routes were great up until the fourth circle, they often found themselves without hard shelter in the end zones. If they can speed up the rotation while accurately predicting where the next safest compound is, Team Elite can certainly step it up a notch and finish in the top 5.

But how do they ensure a podium finish

Getting into a favourable location for the last circle is essential for Team Elite. This is a problem that has held them back in the past. If Team Elite have plugged this chink in their armor, they will have a commendable performance. But to ensure them booyahs and a place on the podium, they will need a bit more than that.

This is when Pahadi needs to be activated. Since he is the designated sniper of the team, getting two snipers in his capable hands might net his team the advantage. If he and his teammates can channel their firepower correctly and beam every team down from a safe distance, they’ll add yet another feather in their cap. They must be able to get into the right compound and turn it into a fortress. While it's a tall order, we hope that Team Elite can keep the Indian flag flying high at the Free Fire Asia Championship Grand Finals. We wish them the best of luck for this weekend.
