Head Hunters Journey to the Finals of FFIC 2021 Fall

Free Fire India Championship 2021 Grand Finals are right around the corner. Before we head into the weekend where we will crown the champions, we spoke to a few of the contenders that have the potential to take the trophy home. In this interview, we spoke to Head Hunters, who qualified from the second spot in Group B. Here’s what they think about the Grand Finals.

Q. Congratulations on making it to the Grand Finals. Group B had some really tough opponents like Blind Esports and TSM. What’s your opinion on them?

Viper: TSM is a very experienced team. We like to keep tabs on them on Bermuda and Purgatory because our rotation paths usually clash on these two maps. We know what route they like to take, so we just keep our eyes and ears open. If possible, we avoid them. If they get into a fight, then we will try to third party them, but we won’t try to take too many risks in doing that.

Q. But then what about Kalahari?

Viper: TSM’s route on Kalahari isn’t really a problem for us. In Kalahari, you might have noticed, whenever Group C wasn’t playing, and 4Unknown was not in the lobby, we dropped into Refinery. That’s a very cool spot and we took it during the League Stage whenever 4Unknown wasn’t playing. In the finals though, they will be present in Refinery, hence we will go to our default drop spot instead of Mammoth.

Q. What are your thoughts about the other strong opponent of your group - Blind Esports?

Maimungda: Honestly, Blind Esports are having the time of their lives right now. They are at the peak of their careers. Earlier, they used to struggle because they did not have a dedicated sniper in their team. Now they have added Abhay to their line-up, which fills up that gap. Also, Nivesh has been on a roll with the grenades because of the new update which added a cook feature and the Beaston pet.

Q. What are your thoughts on the newcomers like Aura Gaming Esports, PVS Gaming Esports and Desi Gamers Esports?

Aasim: All of these are really nice teams. They have come into the FFIC Finals for the first time, but they have the skillset to perform well. PVS Gaming Esports especially, are a really deadly team because they can quickly wrap up teamfights and move onto the next location. Their speed is great. Out of the three new teams you mentioned, I think PVS Gaming Esports is the strongest team.

Q. What is your gameplan going to be in the finals?

Kunal: We are going to have a hybrid approach. We want to be passive for the first three circles. We will try to get a good position in those early circles of the game. Once we have established a strong foothold over the area that we like, we will activate the kill switch. From the fourth circle onwards, we will just try to frag as much as possible. We believe we can defend our area really well. Hence we have a passive style in the first three or four circles, and after that we plan to become really aggressive.

Q. What’s one thing you want to improve in the finals?

Raja: Vehicle rotations aren’t really popular in Indian meta. But if you take a look outside the country, a lot of teams from South East Asia use vehicles to rotate very frequently. We are trying to implement that into our plan. With the vehicles, we can rotate rapidly and reach the centre before anyone else. As Viper explained before, our plan is to get to the centre as quickly as possible so that we can start fragging, and hence we want to use the vehicles better in the finals.

We thank Head Hunters for providing us with this insightful information. It was a delight to speak with you. We wish you the best of luck for the Grand Finals.
