Directly Qualified teams for the FFIC 2021 Fall Grand Finals

The Free Fire India Championship 2021 Fall operates like a step-ladder. The top 2 teams from each group will qualify directly for the Grand Finals, while the remaining 12 teams will fight in the Play-Ins for 6 more slots in the finals. 6 teams in total have directly qualified for the Grand Finals. Let’s explore these teams and their playstyles in detail.

Group A

Desi Gamers Esports

A surprise contestant, Desi Gamers Esports surprised everyone with their breakout performance in Group A. This is the first time that they have qualified for the league stage, and most first-time teams don’t qualify for the Grand Finals directly. But Desi Gamers Esports surprised everyone by not just qualifying but also topping their Group. This is a team that had consistent performances all throughout the league stage. While their kill quotient wasn’t that high, they had several top 3 finishes which kept them in the upper echelons of the Overall standings every day, leading to them getting a ton of League Points too. While they did manage to prove their mettle in the longer format, their true skill will be tested in the finals. Can they keep up their marathon momentum in a sprint during the finals? Even if they cannot, they should already be very happy with their performance so far. They surely have a bright future ahead of them.

Total Gaming Esports

The defending champions scraped through and somehow found themselves in the finals. This was the team that won FFIC 2020 Fall, so they already have a legacy to defend. On top of that, their victory at the recently concluded Free Fire Pro League proves that they are in top form. However, their journey to the Grand Finals was not a cakewalk. They struggled against Aura Gaming Esports in particular. At the end of the League Stage, both those teams had 88 League Points, and were tied. The reason they made it through and Aura Gaming Esports did not, is because Total Gaming Esports had six booyahs, whereas Aura Gaming Esports had only 2. Total Gaming Esports did show some cracks, but their ability to turn impossible situations into clutch booyahs proves that they are still a formidable foe.

Group B

Blind Esports

Blind Esports dominated Group B with brute force. This was the only team that was able to go toe-to-toe against teams from Group C, which has been termed as the group of death. They showed prowess on each and every map with repeated booyahs in all of them. Double-booyahs and triple-booyahs are no big deal for them because they seem to pull them off every time. Their star fragger Nivesh is an absolute master at nades. When you’ve got him blowing up the entire floor, there’s no place left for people to stand on. Read the interview with Nivesh here

Head Hunters

Head Hunters made history by qualifying for the FFIC Grand Finals this time. While they are a pretty popular team in the community, this is the first time they have found such a level of success. They had to wrestle against TSM for the second spot of Group B. TSM seemed like they would be able to make it to the finals, leaving Head Hunters behind. Both the teams had lacklustre performances, but on the last day, Head Hunters managed to hold their own while TSM got taken down trying to make risky maneuvers to find an edge. Head Hunters have a sound strategy. It isn’t anything to write home about, but it cannot be dismissed either. They are truly in the middle of the pack.

Group C

Galaxy Racer

Galaxy Racer defied all odds during the League Stage. This was a team that had a roster shuffle not long before the championship began. The old roster left, Vasiyo was the only one who stayed and he had to build a team from scratch. On paper, it should be impossible for a team that is new to be able to win, when they haven’t even spent a lot of time with each other. But they smashed all stereotypes and topped Group C with a huge margin. This was a big deal not just because the roster is new, but also because Group C was dubbed as the “Group of Death”. This could very well be the honeymoon period for the team. We just hope it lasts long enough to see them through the Grand Finals.

4Unknown

4Unknown showed us that they could truly be the kings of Kalahari. The team that claimed Refinery as their home, turned that home into a fortress and kept everyone off of it. They have the highest win percentage on that map. Having a map in your pocket grants you a guaranteed positive performance in 2 of the 6 maps that will be played in the finals. They also showed a great ability to adapt to the growing competition and stay ahead of the curve. This flexibility should help them overcome any curveballs that are thrown their way. We all know that the game plan of every team in the League Stage is very different from their plans in the finals. 4Unknown seem to be ready to tackle any surprises.
