How TSM-Oldmonk became MVP of FFIC 2021 Fall League during Week 2?

TSM-Oldmonk has claimed the MVP title of FFIC 2021 Fall League Stage Week 2 with his unparalleled dominance. But instead of celebrating such a breakthrough performance that put the team at the top of the table, Oldmonk and his team have already shifted their focus on the final week of the League Stage. We spoke to TSM-Oldmonk about the secret behind his show-stopping performance and what are their plans ahead to qualify directly for the FFIC 2021 Fall Grand Finals.

Q. How does it feel, being the MVP of Week 2 at the League Stage?

A performance such as this makes me glad indeed and I did take a moment to celebrate the numbers. But right now, I am very much focused on the overall performance of my squad and nothing is more important for me than us performing as a team.

Q. How did TSM suddenly decide to play such aggressively on the last day? We didn't see this kind of aggression before.

We were trying to be a little more patient for the 1st week as well as on the 1st day of the 2nd week, but the results were not as expected. We were in the 5th position on our group table and it became a do-or-die situation for us. So, we all decided to play aggressively and got satisfying results.

Q. How do you decide when it’s best to attack from the front or go for a flank?

When I see that the opponents are busy handling my teammates and no one is targeting me, then I prefer to go for a flank. However, if we are fighting in a small compound or inside a small circle then I like to charge from the front.

Q. As a fragger, where do you think your strength lies that has the ability to outplay such overpowered opponents in the lobby?

My superior accuracy with bullets, fast movement speed, and confident mindset help me to outplay my opponents in any situation. I also practice regularly to break my own limits as a player.

Q. What was your reaction like when Blind Esports won that last match against you?

I was confident that we will be on the top after the final day, but a little upset as well with our performance in the final circles. We survived till the last zone 3-4 times but were unable to get booyah in any game. So, in the last game, after we lost the fight at the final zone, we had a discussion on how we can do better in the upcoming matches and avoid choking.

Q.Your team is sitting at the top of the leaderboard without scoring a single booyah. What is the team lacking during final circles?

In the final circle, our team goes for kill points rather than position points. We spread across as far as possible for kills and it gives our opponents a perfect opening to kill our members one by one.

Q. In the coming weeks, will TSM focus more on the placement points as well or will you stick to your aggressive gameplay and see where it leads you?

Up next is the intense last week and we will improvise our strategies depending on what the situation demands. We will play both aggressive and defensive.

Q. After such explosive performance, other teams will re-think their strategies against you as well. The momentum of the League Stage is shifting dynamically each week. How do you think you will be able to maintain the lead?

We want to end in the top 2 of our group after the third week. This is our target, and we will give it our best to qualify for the finals directly. We have the potential to maintain our lead and I know we can definitely make it happen.
