Free Fire City Open: Delhi Finals Recap

Congratulations to Team OP (TOP) - They will be representing the Delhi Titans in the Free Fire City Open National Finals. They dominated the Delhi Finals yesterday by winning three Booyahs and out-performing every other team in the region. Along with them, Team Revolution and GodLike have also qualified for the City Play-Ins. Let’s take a look at how these three teams fared throughout the Delhi Qualifier on 15th June 2021.

Seeds of rivalry between Team OP and Revolution are sown

The first two games saw these teams going at each other head to head. The games and end-zones were similar in both the games, and fair too. In Bermuda, the circle closed just a little outside Clock Tower, in the open grasslands with little to no cover. The battles boiled down to a war of attrition. The teams that ran out of Gloo Walls and Grenades first would be the one that got eliminated first. Several teams were alive in the final circle, but most of them were bleeding, hemorrhaging internally or missing team members. From that messy fight, Team Revolution took home the first booyah, and Team OP finished second.

In the second game, the tables were reversed.

The game took us to the banks of the river, with barely any place left to stand on either of the islands. Again, in a messy situation with multiple contenders, when the dust settled, Team OP won the game and Revolution finished second. Team OP were caught on the awkward side of the Southern Island, yet they defied all odds to clutch the game. With this, both the teams were neck-to-neck on the scoreboard.

Power of three

God Like seized the third place on the final scoreboard because of their heroics in the third game of Kalahari. That too, they did it with just three men standing. Numerology works out for them, and so does topography. God Like predicted the zone to perfection, and captured a compound which attracted the circle towards itself. It was a difficult compound to hold too - four houses spread across two sides of a street, to the west of Refinery. Whether opponents flew at them with grappling guns, or rammed into them with monster trucks, God Like fought them off unbothered.

Team OP stand true to their name

Bermuda was a cake walk for them as they accomplished what they couldn't in the previous game on this map, thus bagging their second booyah.

The zone was predatory in the next game of Purgatory, with the circle playing water tricks once again. This time Revolution was on the other island, and Team OP was on the mainland. The circle moved in the favour of Team Revolution, but they failed to stop Team OP from rotating across the water safely. One of team Op members used a surfboard to get across, and made sure that the dock where they would land was safe for arrival. His teammates followed him via the zipline.

Revolution lost their edge and Team OP punished them for it. Team OP went for the triple booyah.

The road ahead for these teams

Gen X Gamers won the last booyah of the day, but to no avail as they couldn't qualify.

LVL-Iconic, one of the more experienced teams of the Delhi Regional Finals came in fourth because of their consistent points. However, this ex-FFIC participant was expected to have a much easier time in this event, considering that they have fought tougher opponents. The fact that they finished fourth and made it by the skin of their teeth proves that the new rising teams can give the contenders a good run for their money.

Team Revolution and God Like will now move on to the City Play-Ins, where they will meet the top 2nd to 3rd ranked teams from other regional qualifiers. The City Play-Ins will take place from 20th to 23rd July. Meanwhile, Team OP has directly qualified for the National Finals. We’ll be seeing them again on 15th August to compete for the crown.
