What can we expect from Free Fire City Open?

We have always wanted to push the boundaries of Free Fire competitive circuits, and we try to improve them and take them to the next level every time. We try to be more inclusive, to support as many underdogs, and discover new talent as much as possible. The Free Fire City Open is a unique tournament with a fresh format that is conducive to discovering up-and-coming talent. 

Here’s what you can expect from the tournament:

Specialized attention to major zones

While it is called ‘City Open’, rest assured that you can participate in it no matter where you are from in India. The states in which these cities are located will be treated as one competitive region for the first stage of the qualifier. The areas of the country which are not a part of the 8 cities will be included in the Wildcard region. Since we are diving deeper into the country, we are hoping to get more representatives from every corner of the country. Many metro cities already boast of good infrastructure and players hailing from them. With this tournament, we are hoping that people from rural areas will also be able to showcase their talent. 

Fewer barriers to qualification - better for underdogs

This is great news for the underdogs and a great opportunity for them to kick start their journey as a competitive player. It is difficult to qualify for such tournaments because of the presence of several other tough opponents. Now that one is only competing with the best players of their state, instead of the best players in the whole country, one has a better chance of qualifying through at least the first stages of the tournament. 

4 months of high-octane Free Fire action

While the players are happy with this new format, this is also pretty good for the viewers. The format is a long one, spanning four months. We will start with the individual city qualifiers, then the wildcard qualifiers, and finally the play-ins, followed by the grand finals. At each step of the tournament, the matches will be broadcasted. Everyone who is looking forward to spectating a tournament will be happy as this will keep them entertained for a long time. You better stock up on your snacks!

The Free Fire City Open is an initiative to truly open up the game to the masses and let people explore what it is like to play the game for something other than fun. We hope it invigorates the competitive spirit of the players.
