Free Fire Bangladesh Championship 2021: Week 1 Recap

The first week of the much-awaited Free Fire Bangladesh Championship 2021 is over. As expected there were extraordinary plays from emerging teams and some healthy rivalries building up. The skill ceiling too was being challenged every moment of the three days played. Certainly, the first premiere Bangladeshi Free Fire did live up to its hype. The players who were stars already in their own region got a platform at the highest stage to show their potential and explode into a nebula. In this article, we will revisit the best moments from Week 1 and also the overall position where the teams stand now.

DAY 1

Right from the start, Group B looked threatening. They made their presence felt in every part of the map. Team Agent kicked things off with a fight against Ambush Esports where both teams dealt heavy blows to each other and got reduced to 2 players per team. Both teams withdrew from the fight but as fate had decided, they met again. Nitrox from Ambush Esports who had already taken down two players from Team Agent almost completed a brilliant clutch in a 1v2 situation, got 3 kills for his team but it was Sabbir from Team Agent who had the last laugh. The Circle was playing its merciless game and teams had a tough time adapting to the hard shifts. Few teams played sticking to the blue zone and gatekeeping while some teams like Xenon as well as Team Extreme prioritized getting inside the circle and occupying compounds. Team Oneman had a tough time fighting against Team Xenon but one player changed the game for them. Mollah from Team Oneman stuck with his teammates and revived them from the most outrageous position possible and got his team home with a booyah. That double revival as well as a few important frags from Mollah completely shifted the game towards them.

Purgatory(2nd match) was surprising because only one team dropped in Brazilia and most of the teams preferred dropping in the edge of the map and rotating inwards. An all-out brawl took place near Ski lodge, Forge, and campsite as more than 4 teams competed for territory. This strategy eventually worked out for team Extreme as they managed to get kills as well as safely rotate inwards clean sweeping GB2L esports. The circle shifted towards the bridge and team extreme, Team Agent and team Xenon squared off and Team Extreme came out victorious.

Similar patterns have been noticed in the rest of the games of the day. Teams dropping in the edge of the map regions and then rotating inwards. Team Jawbreakers found a good rhythm and got two back-to-back booyah's due to their good teamwork and their individual gunplay which was in sync with each other. They captured Bermuda with 8 kills and all their players alive and then in Kalahari displayed a similar performance. However, they suffered a slump in the form again and struggled to find consistency. Even though they dropped in safer locations, their rotations were cut off by other teams and they couldn’t string together a lot of top 3 finishes as a result of which they landed on the 4th spot on the points table at the end of the day’s play.

Then came Team Agent, a team that had been very consistent throughout the day, finally found redemption as they got a booyah on purgatory. This team is all about aggressive Freefire. They assert dominance and then rule on their kingdom. Zisan with his sniper and Sabbir and Jamil with the SMGs were absolutely ruthless. They racked up 13 kills for themselves and got a booyah where they showed signs of a storm that was coming.

In the final match of Kalahari, Team Xenon who also were consistent throughout the day found a booyah for themselves on the ground of some calm and calculated plays. When required they amped their aggression and took out Team Oneman, who had 8 kills already, with some outstanding plays. In the final circle, they wreaked havoc and took out Team Agent. This ensured that they redeemed their first position on the points table closely followed by Team Agent.

DAY 2

Groups B and C played today and Group B was clearly better, convincingly. Teams from Group C felt the nerves and were very shaky from the very start. But inversely, Teams from Group B were very comfortable because they already had played on Day 1. Team Extreme continued their good run and got the first booyah of the day. They dropped on Mill and held their position just inside the circle. They wiped out Team Agent in the 5th circle and then went on to win the game with 8 kills in their bag.

That was one of the few times Team Agent was taken down because from the second match onwards hell broke loose as Team Agent tore down the opposition. They won 4 Back to Back booyah's, which is a record not just in the Bangladeshi circuit but also in the subcontinental region. Their aggression was unmatched and the way they hunted down their enemies made it look like this team wasn’t even trying. Zisan was impressive in all of those victories, and he made his presence felt with his snipers. His quick switching and accurate shots got him the tag of MVP multiple times. The contributions of Sabbir are also irreplaceable because he and Jamil went up close and personal being the entry fraggers of the team and got a lot of impact kills. Lastly, Arnob was the best player to support them and he was their last pillar of defense every time they suffered. Together, this team went on a rampage and getting 4 victories and 59 kills in 6 games, and crossed the 100 point mark in a single day. The feat which really stands out is that they had 59 kills in 6 games almost averaging 10 kills every game.

They dropped in positions of low risk but eventually paved their path inwards making everyone suffer. In Purgatory, they wiped down B26 Mystics to get their first booyah because of some outstanding gunplay by Jamil and Sabbir at the end.

They met again on Kalahari in the next game but this time, B26 Mystics fell back. However, they were hunted down by Team Agent eventually asserting their domination over this team yet again. Team Agent already had 10 kills even before entering the final circle where they wiped out Team Xenon to get their second booyah. Jamil himself had 9 kills in that game.

Next game they dropped in Observatory repeating their “edge of the map drop” tactic. They met Team Xenon again, this time pretty early in the game. Their fight in the plantation took a while but Team Agent came out on top again. They were certainly hurt in trying to make their way to the final circle but Zisan and Sabbir rose to the occasion yet again. Zisan connected a string of sniper shots to take down both players in the final 2v2.

In the fifth game, they repeated their drop of Moathouse and eventually grabbed another high fragging booyah. Their run was finally halted by Team Jawbreakers in the final game of the day in Kalahari. Team Oneman dropped in on Stone Ridge and stayed relatively passive in the entire duration of the game but due to their positional advantage, they were able to gatekeep few teams from entering the final circle and got a booyah for themselves.

DAY 3

Groups A and C battle each other on this day. If aggressive Freefire was the theme of Day 1 and 2, Day 3 was a different ball game altogether. Teams were very quick to grasp on their opponent’s tactics and were very quick to determine an antidote to work with. As a result, we got to see a lot of tactical drop locations and rotations. Not a lot of early fights and not a lot of flashy plays at the start. Most teams played a conservative game. Amidst all the calm and composed plays, there was a team who really showed up.

The first game in Bermuda had no kill even 10 mins into the game. Team Riot targeted the center of the map and dropped in peak. Noticing a trend of capturing outskirts, they were the only team in the dead center of the map and had an easy time looting. They captured a lot of kills on their short way towards the final circle. They overwhelmed their opposition with numbers and good positioning. Team Infinity was certainly the first team that suffered. B26 Mystics were next. Height advantage was always in their favour and Team Riot made sure they make good use of it. Team LMC was the final hurdle for Team Riot and was dished out in no time. A booyah with 10 kills was a good start to the day for Team Riot.

Next up in Purgatory, GB2L esports met Team Riot in Ski Lodge. Maruf from Riot was taken down immediately and both teams fell back. GB2L found B26 Mystics next and finished them. Finally, they got into a 1v2 situation where Alpha from GB2L brilliantly clutched out for his team and secured the booyah.

Kalahari had a rough start with Team Riot clean sweep Team XB in a matter of minutes. But they continued their onslaught and third partied the fight between Team Cyanide and Team infinity snatched away a lot of kills. Two players from infinity went up against a full-strength. Team Riot who had made a fortress out of the wrecked ship. Eventually little could Team Infinity do and fell to Team Riot giving them the second Booyah.

Bermuda got a standard drop from Team Riot again, in Peak and they looked to be in control all throughout the game. Team Swag got a lot of kills in this game and challenged Riot till they met their eventual end but Team Riot was always in the better positions and holding the right angles. They swiftly wiped out Team Rage and proceeded for another booyah. All their players contributed in a well-fought 3v3. Shuvo blasted away gloo walls with the m249 while the others threw in the artillery of grenades. Then came the final push which gave Team Riot their 3rd victory of the day.

In purgatory up next, B26 started things off real quick and took down a player from Team Cyanide. They were on a stroll near Campsite and were taking fights at ease. They found themselves in such a good position where they were barely inside the 3rd circle and 3 teams were gate kept by them, shutting them down on their tracks. Kills showered in for B26 as they got 12 kills in their bag already. Team Swag again battled it out with lesser players against B26 fell apart, and with 14 kills Team B26 got a massive booyah.

In the last game of Kalahari, Team B26 as well as GB2L started strong. B26 wiped out two squads on their way towards the 3rd circle. Team Riot elsewhere got a good position and gatekept oppositions. They took down Team LMC in that fashion and then pressed forward. Eventually, it came down to the wire with Team Infinity. A 3v3 in the final circle where Alvi from Team Riot ran through the opposition throwing their defenses off guard and Ahnaf was quick to put the final nail in the coffin.
